Elisabeth leads Surgo’s research activities, including developing methods to investigate and change health behaviors in developing countries. Together with her colleagues at Surgo, she drives innovation by adapting and combining effective research approaches from the private sector and academia to improve health interventions.

In her previous work, Elisabeth focused on developing organizations’ capacities in analysis and research design. She built behavioral experiments and data analytics frameworks for several leading private-sector healthcare and market research companies, using classical statistics and machine learning approaches. Elisabeth found her drive for translating science into action during her PhD research in neuroscience at University College London, as well as in labs at MIT and the University of Vienna, where she worked on computational methods to understand how the brain processes information and makes decisions.
